Sainsbury's have chosen Allport to support a direct sourcing initiative for their adultwear clothing.

Branded under the name of TU Clothing, Allport will track and manage freight from 15 origins ranging from Turkey to China, with goods moving by sea, air and road.

Darren Palfrey, Senior Client Manager for Supply Chain Management (SCM), believes that direct sourcing will help Sainsbury's to grow their clothing business. "We're encouraging the buyers to source as much product directly as possible as it enables costs in the supply chain to be made visible as well as allowing us to effectively plan cargo consolidation, both of which can improve margin."

"Allport's LIMA system will provide supply chain visibility and control to TU buyers and merchandisers, enabling them to make key business decisions to support their growth."
