SMART is Allport's supply chain management division's distinct and proven methodology for optimising international sourcing supply chains. The key principle is to optimise the international supply chain from a "total distribution cost" perspective, ensuring that all key variables are considered as far upstream as possible as a supply chain cannot be properly optimised only from the point of shipment.

SMART is different because it offers a business-orientated process improvement methodology, not simply a freight or import related focus.
